BEAUTIFUL | CHAOTIC | BEACHES

Bali is an interesting place. Before going there, I had this perception that it was nothing but pristine beaches and treehouse villas perched atop endless rainforests. The island certainly has plenty of those, but there is also a gritty rawness to the metropolitan areas, evidenced by the amoeba of scooters flowing rapidly around other four wheeled vehicles and people living in tin roof shacks that barely appear to have electricity and running water. As we decided to stay in Seminyak and make day trips to the beach clubs and cliffside temples, we were fortunate enough to see both extremes.
