HISTORY | SALT AIR | BREAD

Thanks to some friends who are getting married in Malta next year, we added this off the beaten path destination to our travel itinerary. A small island with a history as old as mankind itself, the country contains some of the oldest and most well-preserved ruins in the world, from the megalithic temples of Ħagar Qim to the underground Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum, dating somewhere between 3600 and 2500 BC. We were able to visit the former on our recent trip and plan to see the latter next May. We spent a great week visiting the ancient seaports and eating delicious food, including some of the best bread we have ever had, which the country is famous for. We also had amazing wine, olive oil and pastries of all shapes and sizes which are another Maltese specialty. We were surrounded by friends and family during our week there but the locals we did meet were very friendly. We are very much looking forward to visiting again and seeing everything else the island has to offer.
