MARKETS | WINE | ARCHITECTURE

Our first trip to Spain, we pulled a Bourdain and spent just over a week in Madrid on a layover. If it hadn’t been getting cold and if we weren’t headed to Colombia for six weeks, I would have considered changing our flights to stay a bit longer. Most people are familiar with Spanish tapas and wine but its an entirely different thing to experience it in the heart of the country where it was born. We had a great time, met some new friends and ate and drank our way through the city. We found a tiny but wonderfully functional apartment and a great workspace and had an amazing time.

On our second trip, we spent 2 weeks in Javea, a small town on the eastern coast about an hour south of Valencia before flying to the island of Mallorca for several weeks. We were there in summer so we experienced peak tourist season but nevertheless had a great time. Some highlights included a boat tour, a food tour and ample beach days. In terms of overall quality of life, Palma would be hard to beat.
