Amsterdam was never on my list of must-see places, which was a major error. We had an amazing two weeks there and got a glimpse into the quality of life in the city, which is incredibly high. We rented bikes, went to the park, found a great gym and walked through many museums. The sun set after 10PM which made our working hours all the more enjoyable. It is not an inexpensive place but it’s a good example of getting what you pay for. Could see ourselves living there and will definitely be back.

Zandvoort

We also didn't know that there are some beautiful beaches about an hour west of the city. We took the train out in the morning one day, walked around a bit and had some food and wine at Strandpaviljoen Safari Lodge until the sun set. Definitely a day trip worth taking for anyone lucky enough to have ample time in the Amsterdam area.

Amstel River
