John Boyne has quickly become one of my favorite authors. This is a beautifully written tale about a gay man from Ireland who is adopted as a baby. It is full of tragedy and heartache as well as love and hope.

One of the most popular books of the past few years lived up to the hype for me. Having spent time in the south and the gulf coast, much of this hit home with me. A great story that pulls you in quickly and keeps you on edge till the very end.

Middlesex was on my want to read list for years. As often happens in these cases, I should have gotten to it far sooner. Such a simple story but told so well that you will be sad its over after turning the last page.

I expected to hate this book. Despite this, I ended up enjoying it very much. It truly gave me a different perspective and made me think more deeply about my own preconceptions.

Another recent release that I truly enjoyed. A coming of age tale of adventure that will have you rooting for the characters on every page.
