A very highly rated book on Goodreads, I didn’t think this would live up to my expectations. I was dead wrong because this story set during the siege of Leningrad in 1942 is beautiful thanks to great writing and even better characters.

Follow-up novel by the author of The Nightengale, about a family that moves to Alaska in the 80s and must find a way to survive. Even though you kind of know where the story is going, you can’t help wanting this story to go on forever.

Credit to my mother, who has been telling me to read this for years, for this one. Story about a dog and his owner, told from the perspective of the dog, and somehow done so in an endearing and non-cheesy way.

Considered by many to be the bible for writers and creators. Even as someone who does not consider themself a professional “creator,” this book offers countless lessons on discipline, persistence and what happens when you show up every day.
