Evernote: The digital counterpart to your brain. Aside from email, which I hate, this is my most used application. From articles saved for later reading to my workout log to recipes, everything lives here. Make sure you download the web-clipper browser extension.

Slack: Incredibly powerful digital communication tool. 1:1 and team chat, share files and screenshots, all easily organized and searchable. Hard to explain why Slack is so great, but use it for a month and you'll wonder how you survived without it.

Asana: My favorite to-do list/task management application. The amount of flexibility can be overwhelming, but once customized to a specific set of needs or a system like GTD, it is tremendously powerful.

Bullet Journal: If you are a to-do list person and like pen and paper, you will love this. Its a flexible system of setting up and making use of a notebook over time, reducing the probability that your notes become obsolete shortly after you write them. I prefer the original structure (as seen in this video) to the updated one currently found on bulletjournal.com.

Getting Things Done: David Allen’s seminal book was truly a game changer for me. A straightforward, practical approach to organizing your life, I only wish I had read it sooner. Read the book (find the 2015 edition) and implement it yourself for a month. Because it is such a flexible system, adapt it to fit your needs.
