SUNNY | GORGEOUS | CULTURE

We spent nearly 6 weeks in Portugal. What a country! Lisbon may be my favorite city in the world, certainly in terms of aesthetics. While it is overrun with tourists, there is a charm and a history that can't be denied. Next up, The Algarve, which is kind of like Portugal's Florida but without (based on what we saw) all the old people and fast food restaurants on every corner. There is an abundance of beaches, great affordable restaurants, nice coastal hikes and as long as you don't get hit with a heatwave like we did for a few days, incredible weather. We stayed in Carvoiero, which was recently voted the best beach in all of Europe. We haven't seen enough European beaches to properly judge, but we cannot disagree. Lastly, we spent just under a week in Porto, which as you may have guessed is the home of Port wine. There are wine tastings to suit any fancy, but there is much more to the city - which has won accolades in recent years as one of the best cities in Europe to visit - than that. We had heard that you only need a few days in Porto, but would easily have liked to stay a few more weeks.
