Columbia, and especially the city of Medellin, has a reputation that they may be forever stuck with. To this day, people who lived through the 80s associate this beautiful, lush country with violence, corruption and drugs. In many ways, given the images from this period, the perception of Columbia as a place to be avoided is understandable. Unfortunately, travelers who make this decision will be missing out on a city and a country with so much to offer. From incredible restaurants to fast wifi to US wall sockets, Medellin is a remote workers’ dream. One can live like a king on a shoestring budget.
